OPA by Litehouse Ranch Dressing Recalled

Litehouse Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of its OPA by Litehouse Ranch because it may contain undeclared eggs. The Food and Drug Administration has been made aware of this recall which is limited to one production day from a single manufacturing location. Read more

Yavapai County WIC Awarded for Outstanding Breastfeeding Support

Yavapai County WIC is one of six Agencies in the United States and U.S. Territories to be awarded the Gold Premier Award from Loving Support©. Yavapai County Community Health Services was the only agency in Arizona to qualify for this award, along with agencies in California, Washington and Idaho. Loving Support© Makes Breastfeeding Work is the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) national breastfeeding promotion and support campaign. Education, training and outreach materials are provided for staff of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Read more

Monsoons and Mosquitos

WITH MONSOON SEASON UPON US – PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST MOSQUITOS
As our monsoon season approaches it is important to understand the risks we face from diseases mosquitoes carry like Zika, West Nile virus, Chikungunya, Dengue and Yellow fever and what you can do to prevent them. Arizona is home to about 50 mosquito species including Aedes aegypti, a mosquito that can carry and spread diseases like the Zika virus. This mosquito is well-adapted to the Arizona climate.

Beaver Creek School Awarded Top Honor by Yavapai Healthy Schools

On May 25th, the Yavapai Healthy School (YHS) partnership presented their top honor of Yavapai Healthy School of-the-year to Beaver Creek School District.  Micca Martinez, Special Programs and Wellness Coordinator of Beaver Creek School District was on hand to receive the award.  According to the Yavapai Healthy Schools Partnership Coordinator, and Yavapai County Community Health Services Section Manager Carol Lewis, "Beaver Creek School is being recognized for investing in the health and wellness of the school community and always going the extra mile for their students." Yavapai County Community Health Services has a new Director

On April 9th, Leslie Horton will officially become the Yavapai County Community Health Services (YCCHS) Director.  She has been acting as interim Director since Stephen Tullos left in March of this year.  Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chairman, Thomas Thurman said “It was a unanimous vote by the board, with total confidence that Mrs. Horton is perfect for the job.  We are happy she is on board.”

YAVAPAI COUNTY, ARIZONA — Does your neighborhood need more room to run, bike and play? Do you have enough access to healthy food? Yavapai County Community Health Services (YCCHS) wants to know what you need in your community to make it a healthier, happier place to live. YCCHS is partnering with Pinnacle Prevention, a public health services nonprofit, to conduct the 2017 Community Health Assessment. YCCHS is required to complete the assessment every five years, and the last assessment was completed in 2012.
