Beef Ravioli Products Recalled

The Wornick Co. of Cincinnati has recalled more than 61,000 pounds of beef ravioli products because of misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.
The product may contain milk, a known allergen that is not declared on the product label, the service said in a statement.

Monsoons and Mosquitos

WITH MONSOON SEASON UPON US – PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST MOSQUITOS
As our monsoon season approaches it is important to understand the risks we face from diseases mosquitoes carry like Zika, West Nile virus, Chikungunya, Dengue and Yellow fever and what you can do to prevent them. Arizona is home to about 50 mosquito species including Aedes aegypti, a mosquito that can carry and spread diseases like the Zika virus. This mosquito is well-adapted to the Arizona climate.

Cooling/Hydration Stations in Response to Excessive Heat Warning

In response to the excessive heat warnings issued by the National Weather Service, Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management has been working with the Salvation Army Southwest Division Headquarters to establish cooling/hydration stations in Yavapai County residents in the areas that are predicted to have excessive temperatures.  These locations are for residents in need for a place to cool off and hydrate.  Read more

Wildway, Trader Joe’s Grain-Free Granola Recalled for Listeria

Trader Joe's and  Wildway, LLC are recalling their grain-free granola because a supplier notified them that an ingredient used in the granola "has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monogytogenes."   Consumers should discontinue use of the product listed above and may return the product to the retail establishment it was at for a refund.  Read more

Beaver Creek School Awarded Top Honor by Yavapai Healthy Schools

On May 25th, the Yavapai Healthy School (YHS) partnership presented their top honor of Yavapai Healthy School of-the-year to Beaver Creek School District.  Micca Martinez, Special Programs and Wellness Coordinator of Beaver Creek School District was on hand to receive the award.  According to the Yavapai Healthy Schools Partnership Coordinator, and Yavapai County Community Health Services Section Manager Carol Lewis, "Beaver Creek School is being recognized for investing in the health and wellness of the school community and always going the extra mile for their students."
